HOW WE WORK

Intro Call:  We start with a no cost exploratory conversation to discuss the scope of your project and to see if you’d like to work with us.

Estimate: After our initial conversation we will give you an estimate. Our estimate is based on how much time we spend with you before we film, the number of filming days, and the scope of your project. For personal history projects we usually film for two days in your home or another place where you feel comfortable.

Preparation: Developing a trusting relationship is key to the success of your film. We provide questionnaires and prompts to help you think about what you may want to include. And then, through continued conversations, we create a roadmap for our film session.  We can also coordinate communication with a few family members and/or friends if you’d like to get their input.

Site Visit: We meet either in person or virtually to see where you would like to be filmed and discuss the final details of how filming will unfold.

Filming DaysWe arrive with cameras and lights and typically film for four or five hours.  Our conversation is guided by the roadmap we created with you in advance. It is also flexible; thoughts and memories that may come up in the moment are sometimes where the magic happens!

Editing: As we edit, we give you an opportunity to give us feedback. The final video is an authentic record of our conversation, not just a highlight reel.  People watching it will feel like they were in the room with you.

Delivery: The final product is a professional video of our conversation which is available to download online. It will be simple to share with your family and friends. We also provide a hard drive with everything we record.
